January and February marked the beginning of spring, which signifies the arrival of a brand new year ahead. As we celebrate the long awaited spring season, a grand bridal event is on its way to greet us this late January.
The 6th Malaysia International Wedding & Beauty Exhibition is held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive celebration, as well as the beginning of the Valentine’s Day mood. The event will be held for three consecutive days, starting on the 30th January 2010 (Sat) to the 1st February 2010 (Mon), from 11am till 9pm. The exhibition will be held at Hall 1 in Mid Valley Exhibition Center, third floor. Admission is FREE for all public visitors.
Highlights of the Event
As the usual fare of all standard bridal fairs, there will be the participating booths as well as the stage performances. However, this time around, there will be representatives from the 28 most renowned local and overseas bridal studios among the others, and 14 other 5-star hotels and banquet restaurants will be taking part in the event too. Visitors will indeed be delighted at all the bargains available—up to 50% discounts, rebate vouchers worth RM2000 and above, plus goodies in a total of RM50’000.
For the stage performances, once again, we have Regal Orchestra to entertain us with their mix of classic traditional Chinese orchestra music, upbeat jazz, and the occasional contemporary music and vocal performances. But one session that brides-to-be should not miss, is the Make-up demonstration and seminar. Learn a few tips and it might prove to be useful during your big day! As for the bridal showcase, expect to see various masterpieces from renowned Designers, with Ivory Romance taking the lead.

The Vampire-themed Wedding
The debut of the Twilight Saga has probably reignited the wave of obsession with vampires and werewolves as millions of fans worldwide cheered for their favorite characters on the silver screen. So, if you and your spouse happen to be fans of the series, a vampire-themed wedding might just be the one for you!
How to get prepared
This is one theme where time period is not a must. You can choose from any style: Victorian, Gothic, ghostly, or, like the Twilight series itself—modern chic with a hint of darkness.
Attire
Depends on your overall theme—a ball gown dress for a Victorian era theme; a figure-hugging fishtail dress for a more contemporary look; or a chiffon Grecian robe for an ethereal, ghostly feel. Black, or any dark colors (deep purple, dark blue) with highlights in bold red should match the theme perfect. If you’ve just went to the recent November wedding fair, you might noticed a few QiPao (cheongsam) that fits the color palette and theme.
The groom might also want to choose a suit that matches the bride’s gown or dress—a frock coat for the Victorian style; a smart tux to go with the bride’s chic contemporary look. Or, if you both are fanatic fans of Twilight, get the exact suit and dress that Edward and Bella donned for their wedding !(though custom-made ones might require a budget on tailoring).
Food and Beverage
While most weddings will serve champagne, substitute yours with red wine and red sparkling juice (for guest who do not want alcoholic drinks). Stylish goblets (like those used in the Twilight movie) can be prepared specially for the bridal couple and the bride’s and groom’s parents.
For the food, add a touch of red or crimson—red-colored dipping or sauces (strawberry syrup to go with desserts, chilli/tomato sauce etc), or you may ask the restaurant/caterer for the menu to see which food you can mix and match to suit the theme. Rename your menu items with creative names also add to the mood.
And have fun with your wedding cake design!
Venue decoration
Starting with the floral arrangements, red roses are the easiest to get, or you may try other variety of red flowers: Amaryllis (for large blossoms), Heliconia, Tulips etc. Dark green foliage will go well with the red blossoms.
Decorative items (table cloths etc) in shades of red and black (velvet or dark purple will do if black is not available/ not an option) should set the mood. If you wish to, you may even have candle holders for each table—brass ones for the classic look; stylized ones for the more contemporary Twilight look. If you wish for quirky funny, Jack-o-lanterns might be an option!
Entertainment
For the playlist music, there is a wide range of soundtracks available—classic baroque instrumental, theme songs of your favorite vampire movies, or get that Twilight soundtrack CD!
A live band or a DJ is fine for live entertainment, though be sure to tell them in advance regarding the type of songs you want them to play, and their costumes. Or, for a more special, befitting one, get a magician to perform magic tricks on the spot. That should add a mystical touch to the overall events.
All in all, this will be a chance for you to work your creative mind and have fun, as there are unlimited ideas for this theme. For more conservative couples (particularly the parents or elders), it can be quite a challenge, and there might be compromises to be met. But, don’t let this put you off your plans. In the end, your wedding will always be for you and your sweetheart.

由The Concept Exhibition主办的展览会已于2009 年11月20日至22日，一连3天假在天假在谷中展览中心（MVEC）已圆满举行。
国际婚纱美容展出当日，参展的单位源自个领域，包括本地著名婚纱店，五星级酒店/酒楼和美容纤体以及新娘化妆等，为尽所有即将结婚的准新人打造梦寐以求的星级廉宜婚礼。
与此同时，The Concept Exhibition单位也大方赠送出一千多份总值超过40万令吉的幸运奖品与大家度过即将来临的圣诞节，礼品其中包括40份中国旅游配套/蜜月配套/酒店住宿/餐卷以及珠宝饰等。
冬季婚纱秀焦点所在？由本地著名婚纱商家DE’PARIS IMAGE 和IVORY ROMANCE分别于周六与周日现场展示冬季婚纱。

The finale of the 3-days event was indeed remarkable, as a huge crowd, where its sheer number certainly surpassed our expectation, almost overflowed the atrium when the emcee announced the start of the Grand Lucky Draw. The smiles and laughter from the lucky couples, as well as the cheers from the audience before the stage made the perfect last note for the encore that announced the end of 2009.
In all its wintery glory, the 5th Malaysia International Wedding & Beauty Exhibition had its perfect wrap-up amidst thousands of happy visitors. In the spirits of the Christmas season, soon-to-be-married couples are not the only visitors here; grandparents, parents, siblings, and even friends have tagged along, lending a helping hand or giving a thought or two as the couple made their choices of bridal attire, banquet and reception venues, or photographers.
Making their way towards the entrance, visitors will be greeted first on sight—a row of elegant or stylish dining settings with ornate silverware down the Hotel & Restaurant Avenue, or various gowns and dresses in vibrant hues and magnificent, intricate designs lined along the pathway within the exhibition hall. While the booths of restaurants and hotels are a sight to behold, the real limelight is on the bridal studios. Past the entrance, into the middle of the hall, and you will find a lively parade of dresses and gowns—some with merry hues of the Christmas festive seasons, others being embodiment of the pure white snow in winter.
Of course, a bridal fair will not be complete without the Bridal Fashion Show, and the 5th Malaysia International Wedding & Beauty Exhibition has presented with two equally impressive shows for both Saturday and Sunday. De’ Paris Image once again made their winter season debut in style, this time with puffy, Victorian-styled snow-white gowns leading the way, followed by evening gowns with Christmas hues, and lastly, cheongsams with a modern twist in flamboyant festive colors; each gown represents the different facets of the bride—pure cuteness, sensual alluring, and elegant beauty.
For Ivory Romance, a long-time established bridal fashion house, their presentation was equally fantastic, if not, with more extravagance. In between energetic dances, their latest gowns from the Rosette and Crystal editions were paraded one by one, from pure white bridal gowns to majestic evening gowns, rounding up with their specialty—shimmering, stylish cheongsam, and this time with more subdued, elegant colors, exuding an air of lavish luxury.
In between the on-stage activities, visitors are treated to delightful traditional Chinese orchestra music, performed by the Regal Orchestra, and a brief vocal performance as well.

In Malaysia, wedding fairs are held almost once in each month, or sometimes more frequently during certain months, particular those which are closer to perceived lucky days for weddings. It is a fact that wedding fairs are the best opportunity for bargain hunting, from bridal attires to honeymoon packages.
So, for those attending the 5th Malaysian International Wedding & Beauty Exhibition and the Wedding Fair at Parkroyal Hotel this coming weekend, keep these in mind:
Plan Your Route
Even in a small wedding fair, the participants usually number over 50, from bridal studios to various other services; and might be more than 100 in a larger fair. If you are one looking to save time and grab what you want, you may want to go through the list of participants, mark down what services and which brand name/ outlet that will suit your taste/ has a recommendation from your friends/family and head straight to the few outlets that are your choice. By marking down the location/booth number of your target outlets, you wouldn’t need to waste time browsing around. However, if you are not in a rush, and are quite unfamiliar with each outlets, spending more time in comparing prices and style will be advisable, before you decide to book for any service.
Bring Along Help
Do not be afraid to bring your whole family out, or your whole gang of friends. In-laws, parents, even your fiancé / fiancée will be helpful in many ways—getting more free gifts, giving a second or third opinion on things (bridal attire, wedding cake/wine-tasting, choosing a venue for the banquet etc), or even in bargaining. Most of all, you will have extra names to fill in for the lucky draw, which increases your chances in winning the prizes.
Prepare a Bag, Paper and Pen
While most vendors usually provide you with a paper bag or goodie bag where you can put in all contact details, name cards and brochures, it is still better to prepare one yourself, in case they don’t, or the bag wouldn’t fit everything. It is also better to separate brochures from name cards, so that it will be easier for you to find at the end of the day. With your bag, you could bring along your camera or digital calendar as well, in case you need to take pictures of certain things, or might need to check your schedule should you plan to book for any services. A pen will allow you to jot down minor details such as prices, package items for comparison later on.
Prepare Enough Budget
There are some bargains or packages that are only available only during exhibition day. Thus, bring along your credit card, cash or chequebook (and make sure you have the enough amount). However, be sure to check out everything about the package before you put down your payment—extra hidden charges, terms and conditions, especially on items such as gown/suit alterations, ampoules and make-up accessories (where some may not be FOC in the package). Ask the staffs immediately if there are anything you’re not sure about the packages and agreement.
Be Comfortable and Open-Minded
Knowing that it will be a long walk around the hall, come prepared with comfortable shoes so that you wouldn’t went home with swollen toes or stiff knees. Also, bring along an open mind. If it happens that your choice of photographer had been booked for the day, or your dream gown is not available at your choice outlet, don’t fret. There are more choices down the rows of vendors on display.
